This weekend I celebrated Juliana's birthday by going camping with a friend. We went to Hemlock Cliffs in southern Indiana. It's a beautiful little trail through gorgeous sandstone box canyons. It's the type of thing that you just don't expect to see in Indiana. Here are some pictures.
Descending to Messmore Cliffs Falls
Otter Creek
My campsite
There were quite a few downed trees from the storms lately, but still a beautiful hike
Hemlock Cliffs trail is only 1.2 miles long and is located just west of highway 37 south of English, IN
There is even a nice campsite right on top of the ledge of these falls
Messmore Cliffs Falls
Sunshine in the morning through the trees
My trusty pack. We've covered a lot of miles together
I saw at least 5 varieties of butterflies on the hike
This is a where's Waldo type picture. See if you can find me.
A Carolina Wren singing his little heart out
On the way out, the sun was shining and there was a fallen tree with 5 big snakes sunning themselves on it. They were all northern water snakes
